A little about us
Established in 2018, Loiter Galleries mission is to support local underserved artists by providing affordable gallery space, promotion, and general support even during the most challenging of times. We also serve the business community and our Long Beach neighborhoods by filling vacant
store fronts with art and optimism. We believe that art is a powerful tool in the evolution of neighborhoods and cities. And that the accessibility of art is of the utmost importance.
Additionally Loiter Galleries fills a void. Mainly, serving the various needs of the underserved artists. The programs we develop assist both the business district and the arts community directly. For the artists, we supply affordable gallery showcases, marketing, supplies, meeting space, art business advice, and emotional support.
Conversely we aid local property owners by converting dark, empty spaces with art and positive activity. Artists finally have a venue to display their art and receive the support they need to learn how to be successful. The property owners sell/lease their spaces more quickly via the brightness,
activity, and popularity of our projects.
Another core audience naturally, are art lovers and supporters. We serve them by presenting them with artists we discover and who are out of the mainstream. Although some of our artists are established, the shows they create tend to be more adventurous and push the boundaries. This occurs through our direction and collaboration. Many of our visitors have never been in a gallery previously.
Meet The Team
As co-founder of Loiter Galleries, Monica Fleming dreamed of opening a gallery with a mission to discover and support under-served artists. That dream became a reality through determination and vision. As an artist, Monica Fleming has been awarded numerous grants and commissions for many site specific installations in hotel and restaurants. Including Pershing Square in Downtown Los Angeles. She has resided and shown in her hometown of Long Beach for over 15 years. Her intent is to allow a more enigmatic yet fluid aspect to appear. It is this quest that I hope to inspire us to transcend the commonality of our daily lives.
Also a co-founder of Loiter Galleries, Vincent (Vinny) Picardi has been motivated to create an artist run gallery that supports local artists' unmet needs. As a photographer he has received numerous commissions for the Hyatt, Marriott, and Andaz Hotels and from architectural and interior design firms. Vinny is also a commercial photographer of choice due to the application of his fine art sensibilities. His winning proposal’s theme is based on a campaign called “Go Local”. In effect bringing interpreted local images into the space. Creating a unique connection.
